MSE-CS Application Procedures (Non-EU)


Non-EU residents
Application for admission to the Master (Laurea Magistrale) in Computer Engineering starting in September 2012 is open to non-EU residents who have obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other scientific areas (the latter will be analyzed and approved on a case-by-case basis). All academic records must be issued by the home institutions. School and academic records must be legalized by the country's competent authorities, translated in Italian or English by an official translator.

Please note: Students who have not yet completed their undergraduate studies, but are expected to complete them by August 2012, can apply to the Master program by supplying an official document from their university confirming their expected graduation date. This document will only be a temporary substitute for the official copy of the Final Diploma.

The deadline for the application is May 11th 2012 for all non-EU residents. Applications will be processed upon arrival. Applicants are strongly recommended to send their application as soon as possible, so in the case of admittance they have enough time to plan the organizational/bureaucratic aspects of their visa and stay in Rome.

1. Submit a pre-application with the following documents:

  • M1 form
  • Official University diploma or temporary substitute (in English or Italian)
  • Official transcript of records (in English or Italian)
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Letter(s) of recommendation
  • Letter of motivation
  • Certificate proving the student's proficiency of the English language (This does not apply for native English speakers)
  • Copy of a valid Passport with photo

A hard copy of the same documents must be delivered by regular mail to:

2. Check immediately with the local Italian Embassy/ Consulate or Italian Institute of Culture the deadline to apply for a VISA (usually end of May) and whether other documents, besides those listed above, are necessary.

3. Non-EU applicants living abroad, must pre-enroll through their local Italian Embassy/Consulate or Italian Institute of Culture. Pre-enrollment means that the documents for the admission at Sapienza (see points 1 and 2) must be accepted by the embassy/consulate and transferred to Sapienza University by them. DOCUMENTS CANNOT BE BROUGHT TO THE INTERNATIONAL OFFICE BY THE STUDENT.

4. Send to a zip file with subject ADDITIONAL DOCS, containing any additional document concerning your previous studies and degrees required for the visa and not included in the pre-application. Please use the same e-mail address used in the pre-application. In particular:

You have to provide an original copy and a certified translation in Italian of your university degree certified and released by the competent Italian Consulate together with a declaration of value, called "dichiarazione di valore" in Italian. You have to provide an original copy and a certified translation in Italian of your transcript, namely comprehensive record of a student's academic performance as recorded at the University including courses transferred, credit by challenge, and degrees awarded, certified and released by the competent Italian Consulate. You have to provide an original copy and a certified translation in Italian of your secondary school diploma, certified and released by the competent territorial Italian Representation together with a declaration of value, called "dichiarazione di valore"in Italian.

5. Finalize your registration with the International Student Registration Office of Sapienza University.
